December 23, 2010 (San Diego) -- This holiday season American Medical Response (AMR) Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) are extending helping hands by delivering meals and gifts to people in need. Recipients were identified by AMR caregivers in partnership with the YMCA, National City Spirit of the Holidays and the Forget Me Not Foundation.

Travis Kusman, Operations Manager of AMR, said, “It is truly a privilege to serve communities across San Diego. Our EMT’s and Paramedics are grateful for the opportunity to go above and beyond the call of duty by providing food, clothing and toys to families in our community that would otherwise go without this holiday season.”

As an extension of AMR’s commitment to enhancing health and wellbeing, caregivers also delivered donated freshly cut flowers to nursing home residents. “Residents utilize the bouquets to brighten their living spaces or enjoy them as part of a group activity. The result is a recreational, joyful and therapeutic activity that enhances the quality of life and physical, emotional and mental dexterity of those it touches,” said Kusman.

AMR and its predecessor companies have provided 9-1-1 and non-emergency ambulance services in San Diego County since 1946.
